General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history your husband seems to have developed liver dysfunction (injury) apparently due to the cholesterol lowering medication atorvastatin.

Smoking may also contribute to liver injury however other causes such as alcohol intake or viral infection must be ruled out.

He requires an alternate effective but a safer medicine to lower his cholesterol levels.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
