Can Irregular Heartbeat Be Indicative Of Atrial Fibrillation?

I was told my son had an irregular heartbeat when he was about 2 years old. With all the commercials about atrial defibulation (spelling?), I am a little concerned about what it means that I was told he has it. He is now 19 and his heart still has an irregular beat. Should I be concerned?

It is not possible to conclude from this description… Atrial fibrillation is less likely

HOLTER / ECHOcardiogram / TMT (Treadmill exercise ECG) / LABORATORY work-up – may all be necessary for further assessment and assistance. One may even need Electro Physiological Studies (EPS)

Many cases of palpitation are benign, especially when associated with normal ECHO and may not require treatment, If you also have symptoms like blurred vision, dizziness, loss of consciousness, shortness of breath, chest pain along with this, you need urgent work up

The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation.
