Can Irregular Periods Be Treated With Meprate?

my periods are irregular for past four months this time it has got delayed longer i had my last periods on 10th of dec 2010 then till now i did not have my periods did my urine test for pregnancy it was negative consulted a gaynecologist after that she prescribed tab meprate 10 mg twice for 5 days. can you tell me what may be the problem
