Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a therapist working with lymphedema patients and one patient with scleroderma, both patients mention an itch in their skin especially at night that is unbearable. I am wondering about the connection with fibrosis and this itch? and how to best treat it.
Fibrosis can cause stagnation of while blood cells and their inflammatory mediators which cause intense itching. You can take antihistamine like Cetirizine or Levocetirizine for itching. Unfortunately it is a difficult condition to cure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you all the best.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
