Can Jaw Trauma Cause Ear Pain?

My friend and I were in a bad four wheeler wreck in 2012, we were driving to fast and wasn t able to control the vehicle so we by passed our turn, her grandpa was pulling out and stopped to avoid hitting us, we lost all control and hit a very sharp turn to avoid hitting the car, but the rear end came around and we flipped on to the car my friend went under and I was thrown on to mirror of the car, which broke my jaw, I understand I will always have pain in my jaw since the doctors weren t able to do much with a shattered jaw, I had severe ear infections when I was a kid and I would miss weeks of school, but here lately two years after the wreck I have been having bad ear aches which have cause intense headaches, my parents said my ear looks fine but it s the ear on the side I shattered my jaw, it hurts really bad when I drink cold liquids, could this be serious? Or caused because of my injuries

Hello,
Please have your teeth checked for an abscess. Trauma will often damage nerves and fractures or infections can appear years later. Consider visiting your dentist and update XRays. There may be an infection seen at the end of a root.
You may have pressure from the spread of an infection from a tooth or inside the ear. Antibiotic may be needed. Additional dental treatment may require a root canal or extraction. Antiinflammitory medication such as Tylenol or Motrin may help limit your discomfort, but plan on getting a diagnosis for proper treatment recommendations. It is important to find the source of an infection. Inflammation can cause pain in adjacent locations. systemic affects are possible. Sepsis is the spread of infection into your blood and can be very serious.
Thank you for your inquiry.
