Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having a problem with my knee and am nervous about what may be causing it.I thought it would go away and for a little while it did, but it came back and is much worse and my entire right leg is now swollen to about double the size of my left leg. Would a knee injury cause the entire leg to swell?
It is possible that your leg has swollen up because of a knee injury. Sometimes it can also happen if there is osteoarthritis of the knee. It is advisable for you to get a knee X-ray done as soon as possible for a proper diagnosis.
Meanwhile, you can take an over the counter painkiller like Advil to relieve pain and inflammation. Avoid bearing weight on the affected leg. Consult an orthopedic surgeon if your condition worsens.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman,
