Can Knee Problem Be Sorted Out With Exercise And Use Of Rollers?

I've been having problematic IT issues with my left knee. I've been to PT, but it doesn't seem to be going away. I use a "roller" to stretch it out, doing hamstring strengthening exercises and stretching my hip muscles. Am I missing anything to help it? I am a daily runner (2-3miles). Thanks!
