Can Lipitor Treat The Elevated Levels Of Cholesterol And LDL?


Would you recommend going back on lipator after being off since Jan. 2011 (Used to take 10mg 3 days/wk)?
Prior to going off lipator cholesterol was 135, triglycerides 92, HDL 51, LDL 66. Currently cholesterol is up to 231, LDL 136, HDL 63 (better than before) and tryclycerides are good.

Hi,
Lipitor (Atorvostatin) is a drug used to decrease your lipid level. Lipid levels are brought down to decrease/ prevent a coronary artery disease (heart attack) or stroke. LDL cholesterol is the bad cholesterol and is directly related to the risk of coronary artery disease and stroke. It is ideal to keep your LDL cholesterol below 130 mg/dl if you have no risk factors or below 100 mg/dl if you have risk factors for heart disease (Smoking, diabetes, hypertension, family history of heart disease, etc). So it is ideal for you to continue with Lipitor as your LDL cholesterol is above target.
