Can Loneliness Cause Loss Of Appetite And Anhedonia?
Can being lonely cause my lack of appetite and lack of interest. My wife of 57 years passed away 3 years 9 months ago. I used to be a out going person, but now find my self shut away in my home. I do get spells of hanging around with others, but now prefer my own c company I should add that i have also looking after my sister who has dementia. It seems all i get done is tend my loved ones, My wife for 7 years, when she passed away from cancer. I was also looking in on my siste also, now that my wife is gone i devote most all of my time to my sister. She is going to be 101, in August. That is not a typo. Im really tired..
Being lonely may cause you to feel depressed and as a result have a low appetite, anhedonia and the rest of the symptoms that you are mentioning.
You will need to see a doctor and have a good evaluation and see the need for psychotherapy and if possible medications. A healthy lifestyle is also important and trying to keep active, exercising regularly, going for walks, spending good times with friends and family, having someone you can share, etc.
