Can Low Potassium Levels Cause Muscle Cramps In Diabetics?

I'm a diabetic out of control. I feel I am losing control of my leg muscles, but my muscles in my body tremble and cramp. I will take a potassium pill for a few days and it stops (The cramping) but still very weak. Do you think that low potassium will cause you to lose the strength in your leg muscles?
