Can Low Sodium Snack Be Consumed After A Mild Heart Attack?

Hello, my dad is 62 and just had a mild heart attack yesterday. He is stable, resting in hospital. My mom will care for him after he's released. I want to send him a care package of pj's, slippers, comedy DVDs, lighthearted reading material. Can I send a few hard candies, low sodium snack goods? Or are those iteams off limits?
