Can Low Testosterone Be A Symptom Of Lyme Disease?

Can low testosterone be a symptom of lyme disease? The symptoms started last October and have been getting progressively worse. Furthermore, the onset seemed rather quick, (prior to last October I have never had any problems). I have to see a urologist next week and am wondering if maybe the real issue is lyme. I frequently vacation in the summertime in a place where lyme is rather common. Thank you for your help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It doesn't seem to be related to Lyme's disease. Also testosterone lowering is also not confirmed based on these symptoms. If you are having trouble during erections it may need to be evaluated whether it's hormonal, neurological or psychological as treatment would depend on the cause.

For that urologist review may be sought. Meanwhile supplements for zinc, calcium and vitamin D3 as well as B12 and folic acid can be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
