Can Lumbar Puncture Cause Any Brain Damage?

My sister had just had a spinal tap done and found out she has extra fluid built up in her spine causing her severe migraines and due to that was vision problems in left eye! My question is> can this keep reoccuring? Can this cause problems with the brain in the future? As far as tumors or MS later on in life? Thank you
