Can Malabsorption Of Fat Due To Gall Bladder Issues Cause Floating Stools And Pain Below The Sternum?

My stools have floated for the past 3 months and I have periodic pain below my sternum near the center. Might this be malabsorption of fat due to gall bladder issues? My PCP referred me to a gastroenterologist who is booked out to December. Thank you!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

There can be multiple causes of malabsorption which can cause floating stools and pain

Like: infection in pancreas, diseases in the gall bladder, liver, any intestinal pathology and other infective causes like parasite infection. Other causes like chrons disease and celiac disease.

Sonography of the abdomen would narrow us down to the organ of origin and then the disease can be investigated further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ankit Chauhan, General Surgeon
