Can Marcaine In The Cortisone Shot Have Severe Reaction?

On Friday the 30th I received a cortisone shot in my knee. About 30 minutes later I had a severe reaction and was rushed the hospital. I was told it was not the cortisone but probably the Marcaine that was also in the shot. What do I need to do to keep this from happening again with any type of medicine that I am not aware of ever having a reaction to before?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....

As per your complain in case if you have allergic reaction to Marcaine that has active ingredient Bupivacaine which is a local anaesthetic solution then you should avoid its injection again..
You can get it replaced with other local anaesthetic solution like Lignocaine but only after having a proper allergic testing like Patch test to rule out for suitable anaesthetic solution..
So I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough evaluation and necessary investigations will help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
