Can Medication Be The Cause For Hair Loss?

I started taking a lower dose of Synthroid about 4 months ago. Since that time I have started losing lots of hair and it is so thin now that I can see my scalp. Could the meds be the cause and should I ask my Dr. to increase the synthroid to the previous amy?
