Hi I would like to know If I need to have a surgery.. Couple of days ago I was playing basketball and got elbowed on my left
Ear.. Since then the pain was massive.. And I can't hear small noises.. I went to emergency to check it out .. And doctor told me that I have a little hole in my ear drums.. And gave me some Anti infection pills.. Do I need to have a surgery or will it heal on its own?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that due to physical trauma there has been perforation of the ear drum that is leading to reduced hearing..

In case if there is a small perforation the physician can advise you antibiotics that are anti-infection pills, steroids, anti-inflammatory painkillers and decongestant nasal sprays..
Gradually the healing will take place and perforation will heal..

In case of large perforation or cases that does not resolve with medication needs to be corrected with surgery..

As of now you can continue with the medication under supervision with an ENT Surgeon and get regular follow up done so that he can decide the further course of treatment.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
