Can Medication For Chlamidia Cause Brown Mucus And Lumpy Vaginal Discharge?

Hi, I ve just gone and seen my doctor and don t feel as though my questions are answered. Recently my vagina started producing a red/brown small amount of mucus in 3mm lumps. I m on the pill. Nothing is sore or itchy. And I have had cancer screenings and been tested for sexualy transmitted diseases. It did come back positive for chlamidia which was very upsetting by I was treated for it over a week ago. Can these strange lumps of red/brown mucas be to do with the medication I took to get rid of the chlamidia? I m extremely concerned.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

No, the red lumps that you are noticing are not related to the medication. Azithromycin or doxycycline are normally used for chlamydia and neither of these would have this effect.

Red brown mucus implies blood. Infections can sometimes be associated with vaginal bleeding.

I hope this helps
