Can Medication For Iron Deficiency Cause Acne On Face And Neck?

hi Doctor, iam 25 years old,my height is 157 cm and Iam 48 kilograms weight . I have iron deficiency anemia .my question is that i ve been taking iron pills fro past 3 months and acne on my face started to appear a lot more and more normally i have a skin type prone to acnes but during these months it only became worse and worse;so does iron pill causes acne on my face and neck ?

Hi

The disorder what you may be suffering could be Acne rosacea is a chronic disorder which is of inflammatory origin which is seen commonly in women in the middle age. It can be aggravated by majority of factors

Iron tablets are also known triggers of Acne rosacea. This iron may lead to oxidative damage and trigger flare-ups of Acne rosacea

Since you have Iron deficiency anemia it may be difficult to avoid the acne and cannot stop taking Iron supplements

You can check the hemoglobin levels and can reduce the dosage of supplements on consulting your doctor

For symptomatic treatment can take some vitamin tablets and Isotretinoin local application

It is advisable to avoid spicy food and do meditation of 25 minutes daily to relieve stress

Do regular exercise/walking for 45 minutes daily

Drink plenty of water and apple juice
