Can Methotrexate Cause Miscarriage?

I have just had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks into my first pregnancy. My partner took methotrexate for 2 years before stopping it one year ago. He is worried in case the drug could have affected his sperm and caused my miscarriage. Is this possible? We are both forty this year and had no difficulty in conceiving.
