Can Micro Discectomy Be Safe For Back Surgery?

I have a herniated disk in the L4/ L5 with sciatica pain in leg and foot. I also have a dropped foot. I am a 68 yeqr old active golfer in retirement. Since I am facing back surgery which would be less invasive and safe, a micro discectomy or an endoscopic micro disceptomy?
