Can Missed Chemo Therapy For Lymphoma Cause Any Side Effects?

A friend has Burketts lymphoma was diagnosed in April 2010 he has had surgery and has had two rounds of chemo. His doctor has suspended his chemo treatment yesterday due to my friend tested positive for marijuana & speed. His doctor said that he will not treat him till he comes back clean of drugs. My question his how long can my friend be with out chemo, before it's to late?
