Can My Uterus Be Infected After Having A Miscarriage?

hi! i had a miscarriage last october and i am afraid i may have an infection now... i am trying to get pregnant again and it is not happening...
would i have any symptoms of an infection in my uterus by now, or no? if so, what would they be? i am afraid my doctor didn't give me the D & C and that maybe i have "things" left in my uterus... please help!
