Can Negligible Amount Of Smoking Before Having Lump Removed Be Allowed?

A freind of mine is going to hospital to have a lump removed under local anaesthetic on Friday. He has receieved a letter saying (amongst other things) that he should not smoke for 2 days before hand. He is very nervous about the op and usually smokes 15 per day. It would be very hard to stop. What would happen if he continued to smoke a reduced amount?

Hi dear,
smoking decrease the concentration of anesthetic agent and so doctor told you to quit it for two days.
if you continue it you need higher concentration of anesthetic agent.
If possible quit it for two days rather i suggest you to quit it for a life time.
There is many ill effect of smoking on body.
There are many medication by which you quit it like nicotine replacement lozenges, gums, etc..
Thank you
