Can Night Sweats With Middle-of-the-right Insomnia Be Caused By Medication For Diabetes?

I get night sweats each night. I am a type 2 diabetic who takes Metformin, Januvia and lexapro. I see that on your web site diabetic drugs can induce sweating as well as the lexapro? I also wake up every two hours while sleeping could this also be a side effect of the medications?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Night sweats are often caused by low blood glucose, which can occur in people taking insulin or diabetes medications.

So, in my opinion, symptoms seem to be related to diabetic medication.

I recommend measuring regularly the blood sugar level to maintain it under control.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
