Can Numbness In The Ankle Be Due To Sprain?

I sprained my ankle four days ago. Immediately it felt all wobbly, like there was no bone, plus the outside of my ankle is numb, as are the toes and the bottom of my foot is just pins and needles. Is this more than a sprain. There has been no bandage for the last two days, so it is not too much compression. Could I have hit a nerve?
