Can Ocella And Depo Shots For Birth Control Causes Cleaning Out From The Body?

I went to my gyno today and he prescribed me Ocella birth control. I use to be on the depo shot and i was suppose to get my third shot on nov.4 but decided that this method of contraceptive was too strong for my body. Today i also got my period so he suggested i start the pack today. I want to know if i am protected from getting preganant immediately since im taking it on my period or its 7 days. I'm also afraid that perhaps my body is cleaning out from the depo shot and that the combination of the pill now will mess up body.
