Can Old Tampon In Vagina Cause TSS And Stomach Bug?

Hi,I am 43 and a couple of days ago realised that I hadnt taken a tampon out!! I was horrified,there was a foul oder and now makes sense why sex wasn't the same.I have never experienced this before.It had turned side ways and was stuck.i managed to get it out.Just to complicate matters,my family and I were away in Spain and all got a terrible stomache bug.My husband was the worse and now he's asking if there's any possibility that he has caught tss? Odd question I know but I know nothing about it? Should I go and get checked out anyway?If the tampon was in that long is there a risk of infection?
