Can One Contract AIDS By Sharing A Bath Tub?

I have very worried friend who thinks he might get AIDS.His story is that about 18 months ago,he took a bath in a bath tub and masturbated under water. He is afraid that if someone,HIV positive who had been in the hotel room had masturbated a few minutes ago or left some blood or semen in the bathtub,it might have mixed with the water and entered in his penis when he was masturbating.Until now, no symptoms of AIDS have appeared. He is very worried about being at risk of AIDS.Does he pose a risk,if any of getting AIDS?

Hi,

Welcome to HCM.

Taking bath, masturbating under water in a hotel bath tub is not carrying any risk. Even if we guess that somebody previously masturbated who could have left some blood or semen, then also the chances of getting HIV infection is negligible or almost nil. The previous person not necessarily a HIV positive one.
After somebody vacated the room and to get it ready for another, any house keeping team will take not less than half an hour. Then the new occupant directly go to bath tub immediately, also looks odd. The if the stain gets diluted with water infective dose will not be there. Virus will not live outside the body not more than few minutes. Other than penetrative vaginal and anal sex all other type of sexual activities carry a risk of remote possibility.
So it is not possible for anybody to get the infection through this way.
Relax and enjoy your days ahead.

hello,
thank you for using health care magic ..

well your friend has no risk of getting HIV infection by bath tub.. not to worry

HIV spreads by sexual inter course with infected person , or if you you have cut or wound on body which comes in contact with infected blood...

your friend just took bath in bath tub, lets consider worst that some positive person took bath in that tub and mastrubated still its not possible to get infection from it. water from bath tub can not enter like that in urethra, there are internal sphincter in uretra which controls its action..

but even if your friend just want mental satisfaction go for HIV 1 and 2 ELISA..

Take care..

Hello dear,

HIV infection is spread through body fluids like blood, semen, etc & not through sharing of bath tub and other materials.
The HIV virus cannot survive for a longer time outside the body.
It is highly vulnerable and any harsh condition will denature it.

Moreover, even if any HIV infected blood or semen had been present in the bath tub, its concentration will be not enough to cause any infection in another person.

So, there is no reason for your friend to get worried.
Wishing a good health.
Take care.
