Can One Take Abbotic For A Severe Sore Throat, Green And Red Mucus With Fever ?

Hi I have a very bad sore throat . My throat is very red and has few white spots. the mucus is dark green and red(I think its blood ). I got fever yesterday. My sister gave me abbotic since I am on holiday and she got some. I drrink it for 2 days already. I dont feel better. Am I drinking the right medicine? I drink panadol too to help with the pain

Dear Sir I think you have got sore throat due to bacterial infection most common one is called Beta haemolyic steptococcus.If you are not allergic to Penicillin I would recomend you should take Co-amoxiclav 500 mgm three times daily for 7 days. You should use Paracetamol 500 mgm 2 tablets three times daily. You should use warm salt water girgle as required. Drink plaity of fluid to keep hydration. If you are still worried see a local Doctor. I wish your rapid recovery. kindest regards.

Dear Sir On the basis of info provided it appears you have an acute infection of throat -- possibly bacterial. However there can be other causes too. I would advise you for a ENT consultation for a appropriate diagnosis You may require some blood test and sputum examination . If it comes out to be bacterial infection you will need a a course of antibiotics, analgesics and antiinflammatory drugs. I hope this answers your concerns. with regards Ravinder Sharma
