Can Onset Of Periods Cause Swollen Hymen?

Hi, my friend just recently had sex for the first time. It was unprotected sex so she is freaking out. Her cherry was popped so she understands that that would cause bleeding, but now she thinks she has her period too because it is thicker and darker (like you get when your on your period). Is it possible to have you cherry popped AND be getting your period at the same time??
