Can Oral Contraceptives Prevent Ovulation?

Hello, I wanted to know that if Oral Contraceptives prevent ovulation (releasing of eggs from the ovaries), then how they can control or regularize the monthly period problem? Please enlighten me ? Also, taking Oral Contraceptives is the only solution to PCOS?

Following is my reply:
1) Yes. These pills prevent ovulation and mimic hormones of ovulation to cause periods.
2) It's not a permanent solution to PCOS.
