Can Overuse Of Pain Medication Damage The Liver?

I have extraordinary problems with my periods right now along with fibroids and endometriosis.... I m on 2 different types of pain managers... Vicodin, 10 MG every 6 hours...and then 800 MG of IB Profen. What is the best way to take this medication throughout the day during my periods so as to not horribly upset my stomach and also not too much damage my liver?

Hello,

You are right that excessive usage of pain medication causes liver damage. But you can limit the use only for 3 days of your periods in a month thereby reducing the risk of liver damage. To prevent or decrease gastric irritation, tab. Pantop 40 mg once daily before food is recommended. Those two types of pain medication are NSAIDs and an opioid. They are very effective in pain relief.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
