Can Partial Numbness In The Toes Be Caused From Soil Particles Or Squatting?

Good day, Dr. Siegel. I woke up and for the past 1 hour the 2 littles beside my right big toe are half numb. I tried massaging but the numbness is still there. Yesterday I did gardening. I was half the time barefooted and sometimes I felt strain on may back due to squatting. I have been sleeping short hours this past month due to work. i am not sure if my toes have picked up something from the soil. I am 57yo, weight 70kg, height 1.7cm. Normal healthy - no disease. Taking medicine for prostate daily for the past 9 months. Please advise. Brgds, Kim

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The strain you got while squatting position is likely to cause stress/pressure on the nerve supplying the toes, making them numb.

Try to foment, give rest to back by lying on your back on a hard surface.

Can take an anti-inflammatory drug like Ibuprofen &vitamin B12 over the counter, after food. If no relief in 3 days consults an orthopaedic doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
