Can Partial Vaginal Penetration Cause A Pregnancy?

Accident last sunday night, during a sexual relation penis touched outside of partners vagina with partial penetration for a few seconds before common sense prevailed..no further contact.Morning after pill emergency contraception taken after 11 hours.What is risk and likelyhood of pregnancy...Kind Regards, Dave

Dear Dave,

Even if ejaculation or pre-ejaculation secretions (precum) are deposited at the outlet of vagina, the sperms in them can swim up the vagina and uterus and cause the pregnancy. You could be sure that you have not ejaculated; however, you cannot be sure of the expulsion of precum since it leaks out without knowledge.

However, she had consumed morning after pill after 11 hours of this incidence. So now she is well protected against the pregnancy.

Morning after pills have some after effects:

1. Few days after the consumption of the pill, some amount of bleeding may take place. It will stop within a couple of days.

2. Following next menses may be delayed by few days to a week. Not an issue of concern. She will get it subsequently.
