Can Penicillin Be Taken For Yellow, Thick Mucus Build Up In Sinuses?

I believe I have a mucus build up in sinuses. It s colored yellow and thick. I feel like I have it in back of throat but can t get it out. Constant clearing my throat and it s bothering me. No pain but my cheek bones last week were hurting and my upper teeth. Can I take 500mg of pennecillin ? To get mucus cleared out

Hello,
Thanks for the concern. You have thick yellow mucus in sinus since last week so it might be SINUSITIS.
For such thick yellow mucus you can use Penicillin which is very effective but you have to take test dose of penicillin under strict supervision of physician. Moreover Penicillin is spared for emergency condition.
In addition there are many options of other antibiotics like combination of cephalosporin and clavunilic acid for sinusitis.
Also you should avoid cold drinks, take hot steam twice daily which will help you. Take care
