Can Perimenopause Cause Rapid Weight Gain?

Hi, My name is Alisa and my doctor recently diagnosed me as Perimenopausal. Can perimenopause cause rapid weight gain? For example, 20 pounds within a 6 month period. Also, she asked if I wanted an IUD. Does an IUD help only with birth control or help control the symptoms of perimenopause such as hot flashes and mood swings? Many females experience hormonal imbalance towards a peri menopausal periods and it’s quite normal.
IUD can be used as a contraceptive and doesn’t do much with your peri menopausal symptoms.
It’s better to start hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to control peri menopausal symptoms like hot flashes.
Consult a gynecologist and he will direct you accordingly.
