Can Persistent Colic In An Infant Be Treated?

Hi my 7 week old cries all the time. In the car, after feeding, there seems to be no rhyme or reason. He is always passing gas, spits up and vomits all the time and considerable amounts, belly always grumbling , hiccups often. We have him on reflux meds and it has helped with the pain (as he used to arch back and stiffen up etc), but still has all the other symptoms. We have switched from hydrolyzed to soy formula for supplementation and makes little difference. We use gripe water and gas drops, sit him up after feeding, try not to lie flat on back etc. He sleeps well at night but only 3 - 4 during day and that s with considerable coaxing. Sometimes taking over an hour or more. Please help.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As per my clinical experience, the current presentation suggests there sounds some issue with the biliary system of the child as congenital malformation or so forth.

The same should be evaluated with the high-resolution ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
