Can Person Have Both Hypothyroidism And Hyperthyroidism At The Same Time?

Some how I am too fat to wear boxers anymore, if I get the size that fits me around the waist they hurt my testicles and are really tight around my butt and legs, if I get the next size up they feel much better around my crotch but are way too loose around the waist. I am 6ft tall and 200 pounds, so its not like I am all that over weight and I know people much larger than me wear boxers, so I don't understand how this is happening and I am worried if it is a sign of some weird health problem, that I am somehow the most abnormally shaped guy in the world and can't even find underwear that fits.

I have Graves Disease and my specialist has had me taking medication for both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism at the same time for the last 5 years which everybody thinks is really weird (including the pharmacy and lab where I get blood work done) and wonder if this has anything to do with it. I have told my specialist about this problem before and he just says "yeah that's weird" and has nothing else to say. Its a goofy problem to have but has become a very serious problem because I can barely think or function in life anymore because I constantly have boxers squeezing my testicles.

Hi welcome to HCM...

You have excessive weight gain according to your complaint ...

You have not mentioned your thyroid report ...
Here your treatment and dose adjustment done according to your tsh and t4 level...
Regular follow up thyroid report done at every three month ...

For weight loss along with medication for thyroid also do regular exercise ....
One hour jogging like active exercise useful...
Fat restricted in diet ....

You can be investigated through CT can like investigation for rule out pitutiry or hypothalamus problem....

Advise : consult endocrinologist for proper examination and accordingly work up.

Take care
