Can Physiotherapy Help Cure Dystrophic Calcification Causing Shoulder Pain?

my father has had pain in the right shoulder 4 the past 10 months or so...recently he complained that he had pain in the left shoulder also...the pain occurs only in certain positions....x-ray of one shoulder showed an opacity over the head of the humerus..the doctor said it was a dystrophic calcification and advised him physiotherapy.....i'm a second yr medical student...i'm confused..r thr possibilities of it being a bone or cartilage tumours??..
