Can Pills Be Taken For Gynecomastia?

I am a male, 23, and in good physical condition. I developed gynocomastia when I hit puberty. I have puffy nipples, but not excessive breast tissue. I would not consider surgery, but should I start looking at pills? Diet and exercise seem to be having no effect as the rest of me is in pretty good shape. I understand this can be a result of a hormonal imbalance. Is that correct?

Hello,

Gynocomastia is an enlargement of breast tissue in males as the result of an imbalance of the hormones in the body, with somewhat of an excess of female hormones called estrogens, when compared to male hormones called androgens.

Gynecomastia is common in boys at various stages of development and in association with certain medical conditions.

True gynecomastia refers to enlarged glandular tissue rather than fat (adipose) tissue or pseudo gynecomastia.

In your case, considering your description, it can be pseudo gynecomastia.

Anyway, if you were my patient, I will ask you first to do this hormone tests: Estrogen, Total testosterone, free Testosterone.

The good news is that Usually, gynecomastia goes away on its own within about six months.

If it doesn't go away, I suggest consulting physically your doctor because it is necessary to do specific tests, to determine the cause of gynecomastia.

It is important to rule out any serious medical conditions that may be the cause of gynecomastia. Only if you find the cause, you can have the right treatment of your actual problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
