Hi,
Noted the history of a pain while walking, bending from buttock going down the leg, Doctor suggested for a pinched
nerve and wants to know what next to do.
Surely the first diagnosis is possible by clinical evaluation of the muscle thinning or
atrophy, power, blood circulation and so on.
To be confirmed by
MRI of the lower spine.
Related blood tests like for CBC and
diabetes.
All these will give a proper diagnosis and thus allow for planning of a proper management.
This can be in the form of surgery if the disc has prolapsed too much.
If in a mild form then
physiotherapy, spinal support, anti-inflammatory medicines with painkiller properties can really help you.
You will then need to change the lifestyle.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
