Aloo bukhara, also called as plums, is rich in nutrition. It contains most of the essential nutrients. It can be taken during pregnancy. It is rich in iron which helps to prevent and treat anemia in pregnancy when it is more common. It also has vitamin C which promotes iron absorption from the intestines. Vitamin C is also a powerful antioxidants which helps our cells from free radical injury.
Plums are rich in calcium, fat and water soluble vitamins which are much needed during pregnancy. Carbohydrates in the fruit helps to control excess weight gain. These are rich in fibre which prevents constipation. Magnesium in the fruit helps premature contractions and delivery. Calcium and vitamin A helps in bone development. Plums should be avoided when there is poor weight gain during pregnancy and in individuals with history kidney stones, since, it can forms oxalate stones in the kidney.
