Can Pregnancy Cause Lethargy?

24 weeks pregnant i'm always lathargic after eating my heart rate feels as though it increases and I can't do much but lay on the couch for a hour or two. I'm age 22, 5 foot 5 inches, 115pounds. what causes this feeling? This is my second pregnancy and I never experienced this with my first.

Yes, pregnancy can cause lethargy. And an increase in heart rate. The hormones of pregnancy can cause this lethargy. Every pregnancy is different so it's possible you did not feel the same in your previous one. You may also be busy and overworked looking after your first child and hence the tiredness. Eat small meals at regular intervals rather than infrequent large meals. Have plenty of fluids. Get atleast eight hours of sleep at night and an hour rest in the day. Also get your thyroid levels checked as hypothyroidism is very common in pregnant women.
