Can Probiotic Capsule Cause Any Side Effect During Pregnancy?
I'm starting the 31st week of my pregnancy, and a few days ago I took a probiotic (one capsule) to counter a yeast infection. It contains a bacterial culture with 13 billion organisms, including
Lactobacillus rhamnosus, L. casel, L. acidophilus, L. plantarum, L. bulgaricus, L. salivarius, Enterococcus faecium, Streptococcus thermophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, and B. breve.
In addition to this, it contains 300 mg of Fructo-oligosaaccharides. I'm concerned about the E. faecium, which could cause neonatal meningitis. Do these probitoics cross the placenta?
