Can Red Bumps Around The Butt Area Be Indicative Of Chicken Pox?

Hello, my daughter has red bumps around her bum and they spread down to her legs within a week our family doctor told us it is some type of fungal infection but we ve been using the cream and it s still not clearing up. I was wondering could these bumps be chicken pox?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Chicken pox lesion does not start with buttock and spread lower limb in usual cases. Possible fungal etiology with contagious spread is more likely and if the fungal cream is not working, I recommend systemic therapy with relevant antibiotics and anti fungal medications to cure at earliest.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
