Can Redness Due To Staph Infection In Groin Area Be Treated With Antibiotics?

My 15 month old son has a staph infection in his groin area. It started out looking like a boil, since he has been taking antibiotics the redness has gone away. Now there is a hardened oval area under where the boil was. It doesnt appear to be getting smaller. Could this be something more serious? How do I treat it?

Dear I can understand your concern .
I would like to inform you that some induration that is hardened area may persistent at site of infection . It will slowly go away . There is no need of any medicine for that and it should not be any matter of worry .
Don't press over that repetedaly . It may cause reinfection to that site and swelling can increase as well.
Hope this will help you.if you have any other concerns please feel free to message me . Thanks for contacting HCM .
