Can Rest Relieve The Sharp Soreness In Forearm?

I am a bass player and recently i have had a sharp tension and soreness in my forarme, more preciesly from the left side of the wrist bone on my right arm curving over the top of my arm and hitting my elbow, is this a serious problem our should i just rest the muscle?
