Can Scars On Cheeks Left By Acne Be Treated By Using Olive Oil?

I had severe acne problem before my marriage but it has stopped after marriage. acne is not coming back but they have left dark spots on my skin.
I have giving birth to 2 kids by normal delivery I have got patches on my upper part of cheeks.
Pigmentation is also there.
Before one week I massaged my face with olive oil for 4-5 days but 5 6 acne came out so I stopped using that.

I went to see the dermatologist and he prescribed me avalon alpha plus cream and ethiglo facewash and a cetaphil moisturiser. He said my skin wil become clean n beautiful within a month or two.
So wat should I do?
Should I go 4 dis medication.

Hi there.
I note your problem with interest.
I also note that you have visited a dermatologist who has made some suggestions. I do tend to agree with his line of treatment & think you should first give it a trial for a minimum period of a month or 6 weeks before procastinating.
However, be warned that the condition on the cheeks that you describe is termed 'Melasma' & it is a notoriously difficult condition to treat especially if the pigmentation is deeper in the skin or 'dermal' in medical parlance.
I have never been a big fan of olive oil except in my food & salads. A lot of my patients have had their eczema get worse after applying the same but i cannot say i have had patients' complaining of an increase in acne.
Having said that, any oil applied on the face may give rise to what we term in dermatology 'pomade acne'. So please do stop use of any oils on your face.
As you are in good hands with a dermatologist near you, i shall take your leave with this bit of advice.
Should you seek a second opinion in the future & are near Bangalore, please feel free to drop into Vikram Hospital or use this HCM website to find a dermatologist of your choice.
Good Luck & Godspeed!
