Hi,I am Dr. Joan F. Tryzelaar (Cardiac Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I support a young man who has moderate to severe intellectual disability, he has a leaking mitral valve, narrowing of the aorta and an enlarged heart, along with curvature of the spine to 47 degrees, he had a seizure a few days ago that lasted for 30-40 secs, that day and for a few days around that he was sleeping more than normal, can I assume the seizure is caused by the heart?
you can because in mitral regurgitation there will be enlarged left atrium mau lead to atrial fibrillation that may lead to embolic episodes which may cause seizures, CVA attack etc. but u should confirm that no previous history of seizures since childhood before suspecting this MR
